PTZ Camera Upgrade

After several system failures with the old camera system my task was to update Compass' live streaming cameras, while maintaining remote PTZ control, maintain (or upgrade) image quality, and enhance ease of use for volunteers. I installed a trio of Canon CR-N100 PTZ cameras along with a Skaarhoj PTZ Pro controller to accomplish this. The N100 cameras featured nearly identical optical components and the previous camcorders, with vastly superior movement control and the option to add auto-tracking in the future. The existing SDI and Cat5e cables were utilized with BlackMagic Micro converters at each location, with the potential to upgrade to NDI later on. By utilizing Bitfocus Companion, I added some additional features not present on the Unisketch Skaarhoj controller, including a toggling zoom and the ability to adjust preset recall speed.

Before (left) and after (right): Compass has a multi-purpose sanctuary space, so the existing quick-release plates were used so the cameras can be removed when not in use. The BlackMagic Micro was wall-mounted using custom 3D printed parts, and cable management vastly simplified and improved.
